Description

Vetafarm Cavy Origins is a premium pellet diet formulated specifically for guinea pigs. High in fibre to support strong bones and natural tooth wear, it's fortified with stabilised vitamin C — essential for guinea pigs, which cannot produce this vitamin themselves.

  • High fibre content: supports strong bone development and helps wear down ever-growing teeth naturally.
  • Stabilised vitamin C: long-lasting vitamin C to maintain healthy cartilage, tendons and bones.
  • Australian ingredients: made with hand-selected, high-quality Australian ingredients.
  • Nutritionally balanced: formulated for the specific dietary needs of guinea pigs.

Switching diets? Introduce Cavy Origins gradually over 7–10 days by mixing it with the current food and slowly increasing the proportion. Consult your veterinarian if you have any concerns. Feed alongside unlimited grass hay and fresh water — daily amounts are in the Feeding guide tab.

Feeding guide
  • Small cavy: 1/8 cup/day
  • Large cavy: 1/4 cup/day

Young, pregnant, and nursing guinea pigs should receive unrestricted access to the pellets. Feed alongside unlimited access to high fibre grass hay; ratio of 75% hay, 20% pellets & 5% treats/fresh foods.

How to introduce

Even the tastiest new food deserves a gentle introduction. Blend it with your pet’s current food over 7–10 days, gradually increasing the new and easing off the old. Cats and sensitive tummies often appreciate an extra week or two — and if anything seems off, slow things down and check in with your vet.
